Smith's A-1 was established in 1952 by Charles Smith.  The original business was sales and service of home appliances.  In 1961, the opportunity arose to sell and service Wheel Horse tractors as an added way to serve the homeowners of Delaware County, Indiana.  That decision grew into the current business, and also became the model for the way we do business -- quality first.

Our goal today is to provide high-quality lawn equipment that is superior to what can be found at mass merchant stores.  Smith's A-1 is different from the big box stores in all the right ways:

  • Smith's A-1 Lawn Equipment sells only fully assembled, serviced and tested products.  We choose to be dealers only for companies who put product quality first like Country Clipper.

  • We service what we sell at our facility.  You are never left to fend for yourself without expert help just a phone call or email away.  We also offer service and repair for mowers bought elsewhere; no matter what you are using on your lawn, we want to help you make it last and perform well.

  • Smith's A-1 offers factory authorized warranty and repair work with pickup and delivery available.  Even on lower-quality products from mass merchandisers, we are here to help.

  • We don't sell candy, clothes, tools, toys, chemicals, etc.  We are serious about lawn equipment and beautiful, healthy lawns.

  • None of our new equipment sits outside in an open lot before sale.  When you get it, it's new.

In our third generation of family ownership, we have a vast knowledge of the lawncare industry that helps you find the right equipment for your specific property and the expertise to keep your investment running well for a long, long time.  Our commitment is to do all this for a reasonable price.

We take great pride in the lawns of Muncie, Yorktown, Delaware County and surrounding areas, just as we have for over 60 years.  We appreciate you, our customers and neighbors, and look forward to helping you get the very best for your lawn.
